What is custodial interference?

Custodial interference occurs when one parent or guardian unlawfully takes a child away from the other parent or guardian's custody or prevents them from seeing the child. This can include not following court-ordered custody arrangements, taking the child out of the state or country without permission, or refusing to return the child after a scheduled visit. Custodial interference is a crime and can result in legal and/or criminal consequences. It can also have a harmful impact on the child's emotional and psychological well-being.
